Tickets for all sessions are set to go on sale to the public on Wednesday (February 1), followed by three-day packages on June 15 this year, with further details to follow on group sales, single-day and single-session tickets.

A total of 200,000 spectators attended the 2016 US Swimming trials held in Omaha, the last to take place before the COVID-19 pandemic.

USA Swimming national team managing director Lindsay Mintenko, a two-time Olympic gold medallist, believes the schedule gives athletes and fans plenty to look forward to.

"The schedule for Indianapolis will foster an ultra-competitive swimming environment and a fantastic spectator experience," she said.

"The opportunity for our high-performance athletes to compete on a stage of this magnitude is inherent to their growth and development, in and out of the pool."

Two temporary 50m pools and one of 25m are set to be installed at the Stadium for the Trials.

The previous four US Olympic swimming trials were held at the CHI Health Center Omaha.

Indianapolis first held the Olympic swimming trials when Paris last staged the Olympic Games in 1924.

It has done so again for Los Angeles 1984, Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000, and held the women's trials for Helsinki 1952.

The US has been a dominant force in Olympic swimming, comfortably leading the all-time medals table with 257 golds to Australia's 69.

It won 11 of the available 37 golds at Tokyo 2020.
