There were four Swedes in the top six but it was Skistad who claimed the title after finishing in a winning time of 3min 1.97sec.

Emma Ribom was the best of the Swedish cross-country skiers, crossing in 3:02.67 for silver.

Maja Dahlqvist was the next Swede home, clocking 3:03.75 for bronze as fellow countrywomen Linn Svahn and Johanna Hagström finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Richard Jouve of France won the men's sprint classic crown after seeing off World Cup leader Johannes Høsflot Klæbo of Norway.

The Frenchman came home in 2:39.14 to take the title, beating Klæbo by just 0.09.

Klæbo was aiming for a 13th World Cup victory but fell just short of Jouve, finishing in 2:39.23.

Pål Golberg of Norway earned bronze in 2:40.5, edging out Sweden's Edvin Anger.

There was success for Norway's Harald Østberg Amundsen yesterday as he won the men's 10km title, finishing ahead of compatriot Sjur Røthe and William Poromaa of Sweden.

Sweden’s Ebba Andersson triumphed in the women’s 10km event, seeing off France’s Delphine Claudel and American Jessie Diggins who clinched silver and bronze respectively.
