McMorris produced a superb final run to capture the title for the seventh time at Buttermilk in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.

It was the Canadian’s 22nd medal, breaking the previous record held by compatriot Jamie Anderson.

"It’s something I never thought would ever come to me as a kid from Saskatchewan," said Morris.

"Everything has just been a bonus since I became a pro snowboarder."

Norway’s Marcus Kleveland was overtaken by McMorris as he had to settle for the silver medal, while fellow countryman Mons Røisland picked up bronze.

Kleveland had already won the men’s snowboard big air title and added another gold to his collection when he triumphed in the snowboard knuckle huck.

Iceland’s Halldór Helgason claimed silver, with bronze going to Dusty Henricksen of the United States.

There was also more success for Canada’s Megan Oldham in Aspen.

After striking women’s ski big air gold on Friday (January 27), Oldham grabbed another title when she came out on top in the women’s ski slopestyle final.

Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud and Britain’s Kirsty Muir were Oldham’s closest challengers but came up short, claiming silver and bronze respectively.

"I think I’m still a little bit mind-blown because I came into X Games kind of just with one goal, which was to land the triple, and to walk away also with a gold in slopestyle is not what I expected so I’m so happy," said Oldham.

American freestyle skier Mac Forehand delighted the home fans when he secured men’s ski big air gold.

Forehand earned a perfect score in his final run to boost his total to 97 points as he snatched the title from Canadian Teal Harle who missed out on top spot by a single point.

Norway’s Birk Ruud completed the podium when he scored 92 points to clinch bronze.

The men’s ski superpipe title was won by another American, two-time Olympic champion David Wise.

Compatriot Birk Irving sealed silver, while Finland’s Jon Sallinen claimed bronze.
