New Zealand have finished the Oceania Canoe Slalom Championships on top of the standings with four gold medals at the Vector Wero Whitewater Park in Auckland.

The 20-year-old Oliver Puchner won the men's canoe single gold medal with a leading time of 93.67 seconds.

He topped a New Zealand podium sweep ahead of Finn Anderson who clocked in 13.34sec later, with his time not helped by six penalty seconds.

George Snook then made up the top three in a time of 108.63.

New Zealanders also monopolised the medals in the men's kayak single event.

Tokyo 2020 Olympian Callum Gilbert picked up gold, despite being subjected to two penalty seconds, with a time of 85.70.

George Snook and Finn Butcher had to settle for silver and bronze respectively, as they were agonisingly close to their compatriot on 86.44 and 86.65.

Butcher was able to overcome the defeat as he prevailed in the men's kayak cross discipline ahead of Puchner and Anderson.

In the women's events, it was France that took the majority of gold medals.

Camille Prigent finished in 89.90 to get the better of Poland's Klaudia Zwolinska and countrywoman Marjorie Delassus in second and third in the kayak single.

Delassus then prevailed in the canoe single with a time of 95.01 to beat Hannah Thomas of New Zealand's 102.90 and German Marissa Kaup on 114.17.

Another New Zealand gold came in the women's kayak cross as Luuka Jones triumphed.

Zwolinska won another silver while Delassus podiumed once more.
