Brazil, China and Poland have joined Japan as hosts of volleyball qualifying events for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Women's tournaments are due to be held in China, Japan and Poland from September 16 to 24, followed by the men's events in the two Asian countries and Brazil from September 30 to October 8.

The winner and runner-up of each of these tournaments are set to secure places at Paris 2024 alongside hosts France and five teams through the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) rankings, with priority given to continents without a qualified team.

The qualification events are due to include eight teams each according to the FIVB rankings, with the draw scheduled for March 17 in Lausanne.

Russia, who are fifth in the men's rankings and eighth in the women's, have been omitted because of the war in Ukraine.

FIVB President Ary Graça praised the calibre of hosts secured for the qualifiers.

"I am delighted to see such a high-profile line-up of hosts secured for the Olympic Qualification Tournaments this year," the Brazilian official said.

"All hosts have impressive credentials and will warmly welcome the athletes for these highly-anticipated qualifiers.

"I am sure all six events will serve as a great celebration for our sport and fans with 24 top teams competing for six Olympic tickets."

Volleyball World chief executive Finn Taylor added that the events would tap into important markets.

"Brazil, China, Japan and Poland are huge markets for our sport," Taylor said.

"We know very well how passionate their fans are about volleyball and we are delighted to bring even more exciting volleyball action to these countries.

"These events will be hotly contested with the teams bringing their all to the court as they look to book their places at Paris 2024.

"We are looking forward to witnessing the incredible talent of the athletes and bringing this action to the fans."

Brazil are three-time men's and two-time women's Olympic champions in volleyball, while China have won the women's event three times.

Poland were back-to-back men's world champions in 2014 and 2018, and stepped in to host the FIVB Men's World Championship with Slovenia last year after Russia was stripped of its hosting rights.

It also staged the Women's World Championship with The Netherlands in 2022.

Volleyball matches at Paris 2024 are due to be held at the South Paris Arena.
