Shara Hubrich struck first for the Germans as she won her second continental title with a win in the women's under-50-kilograms contest at the Palacio Multiusos de Guadalajara.

She dispatched veteran Serap Özçelik Arapoğlu in the final but the Turkish karateka was unable to add her ninth European Championships gold.

Erminia Perfetto of Italy and Spaniard Nadia Gomez Morales joined them on the podium as they secured the bronze medals.

Reem Khamis prevailed against Ukraine's Anita Serogina in the women's under-61kg category for Germany's second gold.

They were propped up by Sweden's Anna-Johanna Nilsson and Greek karateka Konstantina Chrysopolou in joint-third place.

Germany's final individual victory went the way of Johanna Kneer who claimed her first continental gold with a dominant win over Azerbaijan's Farida Aliyeva.

France's Nancy Garcia and Italy's Clio Ferracuti were awarded bronze medals for their efforts.

The Germans then clinched the crucial fourth gold in the women's team kumite ahead of Croatia and bronze medallists Italy and France.

Germany also won two bronzes, courtesy of Florian Haas and Gizem Bugur, bringing their total medal count to six.

Italy followed behind with three golds, two silvers, and six bronzes, while Ukraine's three golds and one silver medal sealed third place overall.
