After falling short in his previous five appearances in finals, the Chinese player finally came out on top, beating South Korea’s Jang Woo-jin in a thrilling final at the Huamark Indoor Stadium.

Lin twice came back from a game down to defeat Jan 9-11, 12-10, 17-19, 11-9, 11-5, 4-11, 11-9 to secure top honours.

There was also delight for fellow Chinese player Chen Xingtong who captured the women’s crown in Bangkok.

Chen dealt with the pressure of being top seed to clinch victory over South Korea’s Joo Cheon-hui in the gold-medal match.

Joo hit back after dropping the first game to draw level but Chen proved too strong in their first-ever meeting on the global stage, winning 11-2, 6-11, 11-9, 15-13, 11-5.

The singles victories for Lin and Chen came after they triumphed in the mixed doubles final.

Lim and Shin Yu-bin of South Korea looked on course for the title when they won the opening two games only for Lin and Chen to pull off a superb comeback to win 7-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8.

Chen completed a hat-trick of gold medals when she teamed up with Kaui Man to capture the women's double title with a 11-5, 11-9, 12-10 win over Cheng I-Cheng and Li Yu-Jhun of Chinese Taipei.
