Brazil’s Ana Sátila and Omira Estacia Neta delivered home success at the Pan American Canoe Slalom Championships in Três Coroas.

Estacia Neta was crowned women’s K1 champion after completing the course at the Parque das Laranjeiras in a time of 1min 51.34sec.

Two penalties cost Florence Maheu dear as she posted 1:59.84 for silver.

Argentina’s Nadia Riquelme also picked up two penalties as she bagged bronze with 2:05.93.

Brazil enjoyed further success when Sátila, a three-time Pan American Games gold-medallist, captured the women’s C1 title in 1:59.20.

Canada’s Lois Betteridge finished 20.41 short of Sátila’s time as she had to settle for silver, while Paraguay’s Ana Fernandes Castro clocked 2:26.01 for bronze.

Reigning Pan American Games champion Pedro Gonçalves would have been hoping to add another gold to Brazil’s tally.

But Gonçalves was denied victory by Andraz Echeverria Olguine of Chile who powered to the K1 title in 1:43.23.

The Brazilian incurred two penalties as he sealed silver in 1:46.81, while Matias Contreras of Argentina sealed bronze in 1:47.59.

Two-time Pan American Games medallist Sebastián Rossi of Argentina earned men’s C1 gold in 1:48.47, seeing off the challenge of Alex Baldoni of Canada and Zachary Lokken of the United States.

Baldoni posted 1:53.26 for silver, while reigning Pan American Games champion Lokken, who picked up two penalties, clocked 1:54.44 for bronze.

About 150 athletes from 11 countries competed at the event, which was a qualifier for this year’s Pan American Games in Santiago.
