In total, the country won 22 gold, 16 silver, and nine bronze medals across six days of competition at the Morodok Tecno National Aquatics Center.

It is Singapore's best ever swimming medal tally at the Games, and today also saw the country's 1,000^th gold medal in the event's history.

Jonathan Tan was the star of the show for Singapore has he clinched four gold medals and a silver in Phnom Penh.

His success did not just cement him as one of the region's top athletes, but also resulted in him qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. 

The 21-year-old's time of 21.91 seconds in the men's 50-metres freestyle heats was below the qualifying Olympic A time of 21.96 to secure Tan's place in the French capital.

"It feels amazing," Tan told Olympics.com.

"It's always been a dream since I was a kid.

"It's really a big step.

"The first thing that came into my mind was, 'oh my god', but honestly, I really tried to suppress it and try not to think about it because I know that my team still needs me, and we still have many more races to come."

Siblings Quah Ting Wen, Quah Jing Wen, and Quah Zheng Wen all competed together in the mixed 4x100m mixed medley relay alongside Nicholas Mahabir.

The quartet clocked in after 3min 51.72 to claim a notable gold medal.

"It’s great," Quah Zheng Wen told Olympics.com about competing with his siblings.

"We've been competing together for a few years now and so it's nice to have your family support you during competition, so I'm very thankful and very grateful for everyone."
