The Debriefing was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism (MCST) and was also attended by a delegation from representatives of the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, along with officials from both cities set to host the two biggest multi-sport events in South Korea over the next four years.

Around 80 of those in attendance were representing Gwangju 2015 and took part in discussions across a range of areas including Games management, Games operation, cultural events, international affairs (protocol), public relations and media, operations support, infrastructure, and support from Local Government in the areas of facilities, transportation, accommodation, food and sanitation.

The Asian Para Games came to a close last Friday (October 24) in Incheon, with more than 4,500 athletes taking part across six days of competition.

The Asian Games took place from September 19 to October 4 and featured just under 10,000 athletes from 45 countries taking part in competition.

"We hope the experiences of the Incheon Asian Games will be able to serve as groundwork for a successful delivery of the upcoming international events, the Gwangju Universiade and the Pyeongchang Olympics," said the MCST's director of the international sports division, Han Min-ho.

As part of their preparations for next year's Universiade, more than 40 members of Gwangu 2015 attended the Asian Games in Incheon, attending 15 competition venues to gain first-hand experience in the operations of the Games to get a better understanding of running a major international multi-sport event.

Gwangju 2015 is expected to feature around 20,000 athletes from 170 countries competing in 21 sports from July 3 to 14.

A member of the Gwangju delegation who took part in the Debriefing said: "As the Gwangju Universiade is not far off, it is vital that there is close cooperation between the Organising Committee, the Government and the local authorities for a successful event.

"The meeting proved to be beneficial as it provided an opportunity for transfer of in-depth knowledge from Incheon as well as interaction between the organizers of the two events."
