A joint meeting of event organisers for major sliding sports events is beginning at BMW Welt in Munich today.

The annual event is being co-hosted by the International Luge Federation (FIL) and the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (FIBT) due to each organisation having "virtually identical" agendas.

It will take place at the headquarters of automobile manufacturing giants and FIL sponsor BMW in the German city.

"As ever, the organisers of next winter’s events on artificial tracks will meet to exchange ideas and views from July 5 to 7," a statement posted on the websites of both world governing bodies explained.

"For the last few years the organisers meeting has been jointly arranged by the FIL and IBSF as the organisers of both umbrella organisations are virtually identical."

Next year's FIBT season will culminate in a World Championships in Sochi, while Innsbruck-Igls will host the corresponding luge event.

Both of these events will likely feature as part of the discussions, as well as preparations for the following year's Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

The agenda will begin with a guided tour of BMW Welt, following by discussion centering on FIBT interests tomorrow.

FIL issues are expected to be addressed on Thursday (July 7).
