The OCA IT and TV Audit teams held meetings with Danang 2016 and decided they would also aim to screen live coverage of beach soccer, beach volleyball, beach sepaktakraw, vovinam and traditional martial arts.

The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for September 24, with the Closing Ceremony due to be held on October 3.

Vietnam TV will also be responsible for producing daily five-minutes highlights programmes and 26 minutes with English commentary.

Tran Duc Phan, deputy general director of the Vietnam Sports Administration, admitted there were many obstacles to overcome ahead of the event, the fifth edition of the Asian Beach Games, but stressed they were doing everything they could to give them the chance to stage the best possible competition.

“Vietnam has been trying its best and coordinating closely with OCA to host the Games successfully in order to promote Vietnam and its people, as well as to strengthen friendship and solidarity among NOCS in Asia,” he said.

Before the meetings, representatives from the OCA visited competition venues as well as the sites of the International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre in Danang.

The delegation was said to be happy with the location of both facilities, which are situated “very close” to the venues.

Alfonso Sanchez, a member of the OCA IT Audit team, claimed they had seen a “big step” in progress during the visit.

“In general we saw a big step in the progress compared to the previous audit, particularly the IT and TV projects,” he said.

“The most important issue now is to push up all the projects as soon as they are approved by the Government.”

A total of 14 sports are due to be contested, consisting of 22 disciplines and 172 medals events, at the Games.

In total, around 5,000 people are expected to take part, including team and technical officials, as well as athletes.

It will mark the fifth edition of the Asian Beach Games after Bali in Indonesia in 2008, Muscat in Oman in 2010, Haiyang in China in 2012 and Phuket in Thailand in 2014.
