September 1 - Young British diving star Tom Daley (pictured) claims that he is not at all worried by the security fears surrounding the  Commonwealth Games in New Delhi next month and revealed that it has never crossed his mind to boycott the competition.

The Games, which get underway on October 3, have been plagued by fears over the safety of both athletes and spectators with several foreign countries claiming that the city could become a target for a major terrorism attack.

There have also been a large number of high profile athletes boycotting the Games including Jamaican sprint star Usain Bolt and Scottish cycling hero Sir Chris Hoy.

But despite concerns, Daley, who will be one of England’s top prospects for a medal in India, has claimed that he is unconcern by the reports and believes that the Games village will provide a safe atmosphere for the athletes.

Daley told insidethegames: "I’m not really too worried about security to be honest because I know that I’m going to be able to trust Team England to have made all the necessary arrangements for me and the rest of the athletes.

"I also know that I’m going to be able to trust the organisers of the Games to provide adequate Village security.

"Every village I have stayed at has been very secure which helps to put your mind at ease and I don’t expect things to be any different in Delhi.

"Security a big event like the Commonwealth Games is always a big priority and I have heard that if they need to, they will provide police escorts and stuff like that for us in India which is good to know."

The 16-year-old from Plymouth is expecting to compete in his favoured 10 metre platform event in Delhi having been forced to miss it at last month's  inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore following a triceps tear which resulted from a miss-timed dive earlier this month.

He said: "The tricep is getting a lot better.

"I’ve had a lot of ice on it lately to help the recovery but I started practising off the 10m board again so I’m on the mend.

"It should easily have recovered by the Commonwealth Games so I’ll be doing the 10m platform in Delhi and maybe the 10m synchronised event too.

"I’m not sure who I’ll be doing that with yet though because there is a bit of a synchronised diving triangle I’ve been training with at the moment so we don’t know who is going to be paired with who.

"But I’m really looking forward to the Commonwealth Games as it is a very important part of my preparations towards London 2012 and doing well there."
