Chef de Missions from 70 nations and territories are attending the seminar, which will see CGAs receive key information from organisers in preparation for the Games.

The 130 delegates received information on their team's arrival, departure and insurance at the Games, which will run from April 4 to 14 next year.

Gold Coast 2018 chairman Peter Beattie said that the Games were "on track", while he offered a special welcome to members from the Caribbean following the recent hurricanes in the region.

He also claimed the Games would be for all of Oceania, rather than placing the focus on just Australia.

"The Games are in a good place, as all the venues have been completed," Beattie said.

"Those of you who have had the chance to see the Athletes' Village will know how good it is.

"We know how important it is going to be for you.

"As Chef de Missions keeping athletes happy is one of your most important tasks and if they love where they are staying, it makes it a lot easier for you.

"Please enjoy the Village, as we know it is going to be a very special place."

The Village was handed over to Gold Coast 2018 last week by the Queensland Government, allowing organisers to complete finishing touches at the site.

This will include adding a temporary polyclinic and gymnasium to the 1,170 apartments and 82 townhouses.

The site at Parklands will house 6,600 athletes and officials throughout the duration of the Games.

CGAs are due to visit the Village tomorrow, while accommodation and transport, including the athlete bus system during the Games, will be among the topics discussed.

The Games' ticket procedures, presentation of sports and training venues will also be explained.

Mark Peters, Gold Coast 2018's chief executive, asked for CGAs to work closely with them to ensure the Games prove a success.

"We are excited to have you here," he said.

"We generally have embraced policies the CGF have wanted to introduce around medals and Para-sport.

"We are really proud of the difference we can make in a small way.

"We need you to work with us to ensure the lasting impression of the Commonwealth Games is good."
