The Parapan American Games get under way here on November 12, when more than 1,500 athletes, from 26 nations, will compete across 13 sports, in the biggest disability sporting competition ever staged in Mexico.

Londoño was invited to the Pan American Games by President of the Pan American Sports Organisation (PASO), and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board member, Mario Vasquez Raña.

He attended the three-day PASO General Assembly, which took place in Guadalajara shortly before the start of the Pan American Games, and was at the Games' Opening Ceremony at the 50,000-capacity Omnilife Stadium.

For the final part of his visit, Londoño attended the Assembly of American Committee for Sport, chaired by director of the Colombian Institute of Sport Jairo Clopatofsky.

Londoño was in Guadalajara primarily to continue talks with members of PASO on a proposal that he hopes will culminate in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PASO, the Americas Paralympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to further strengthen Paralympic sport in the region.

IPC chief executive Xavier Gonzalez has also been in Guadalajara this week to support Londoño in his work.
