Wins for Guatemala and Trinidad and Tobago saw them reach the quarter-finals of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Beach Soccer Championship in Costa Rica.

A 10-1 defeat of the Dominican Republic lifted Guatemala to second in the four-team Group B.

Pablo Crocker and Juan Flores both scored twice for Guatemala, who leapfrogged the Bahamas with the victory.

Top-of-the-table El Salvador beat the Bahamas 7-0 in the other Group B match.

In Group C, a 7-5 Trinidad and Tobago win against the Turks and Caicos Islands - with Jabari Gray, Shallun Bobb and Dominic McDougall scoring twice apiece - saw the Soca Warriors finish third and progress to the knockout rounds.

Hosts Costa Rica beat the United States 5-4 to top that group, while Mexico overcame Panama 5-3 to finish first in Group A.

There will be a rest day in Alajuela tomorrow ahead of the quarter-finals on Friday (May 21).
