Estonia’s Kelly Sildaru claimed her first International Ski Federation Freeski World Cup win in three years with women’s slopestyle success in Stubai in Austria, while Norway’s Birk Ruud captured the men’s title.

Sildaru secured victory with a score of 88.86 as she put down a marker in the first slopestyle event of the season.

Stubai was also the venue for the 19-year-old’s last slopestyle World Cup triumph which came in 2018.

Sildaru produced a superb first run of 87.08 before bettering that score by almost two points in the second run.

Runner-up Sarah Hoefflin of Switzerland was eight points adrift of Sildrau after posting 80.30 in the opening run, meaning Sildaru's triumph was confirmed before she took to the snow for the second time.

Olympic champion Hoefflin sealed second spot ahead of Norway’s Johanne Killi, who earned 78.32 to claim bronze.

The men’s event was a far closer affair with just seven points separating the top six athletes.

Ruud’s first run of 87.60 proved to be enough for the win despite the best efforts of Canada’s Max Moffatt, who finished agonisingly short with a second run of 86.26.

Ferdinand Dahl of Norway finished third with 86.06, while Hunter Henderson of the United States missed out on a medal despite being the only competitor to post two scores above 80.00.

Stubai staged the first of six slopestyle World Cup legs this season, with the next scheduled to be held in American resort Mammoth on January 8.
