A total of 285 athletes are set to compete at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy for the International Judo Federation (IJF) World Tour Grand Slam in Paris which begins tomorrow.

In the men's under-60-kilogram division, Mongolia's Ariunbold Enkhtaivan has the chance to better his result from last year's event in Paris where he took home the bronze medal.

He has received a bye in the first round and will face the winner of the bout between Andrea Carlino of Italy and Frenchman Vincent Limare.

The next closest competitor is expected to be Belgium's Jorre Verstraeten as he sits fifth in the rankings.

South Korea's An Bau-il headlines the men's under-66kg competition.

The two-time Olympic medallist and 2015 world champion has also won the Paris Grand Slam twice, in 2018 and 2020, in addition to victories in Tashkent and Abu Dhabi on the World Tour.

Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Sarah-Léonie Cysique of France is the top seed in the women's under-57kg.

The 23-year-old goes into the tournament in the second round with a potential tie against Brazilian Jessica Lima and Mariah Holguin of the United States.

Another Frenchwoman and silver medallist last summer in Japan, Amandine Buchard, is expected to rule in the women's under-52kg event.

She meets 2017 African Junior Championships gold medallist Salimata Fofana of the Ivory Coast in the second round with both athletes receiving a first-round bye.

Three-time Grand Slam winner Lucy Renshall of Britain is expected to go far in the women's under-63kg event.

The 26-year-old, who has a European Championships bronze medal from 2018, recorded all three last year in Antalya, Baku and Abu Dhabi.

Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Davlat Bobonov from Uzbekistan could be his first Grand Slam victory in almost two years as he is one of the favourites in the men's under-90kg class.

Host country France boasts the largest athlete delegation with 28 male and 27 female judokas set to represent the nation on home soil at the Grand Slam event, due to conclude on Sunday (February 6).
