FIFA has lifted its ban on Kenya following the Government’s decision to reinstate Football Kenya Federation (FKF) after the National Federation was disbanded over corruption allegations.

The ban lasted nine months with FIFA stating it will now deploy "a FIFA-CAF [Confederation of African Football] mission team" in Nairobi to "define the next steps for FKF".

"We would like to inform you that the situation of the FKF was submitted to the Bureau of Fifa Council for consideration and the decision on November 25," read a FIFA letter addressed to FKF chief executive Barry Otieno.

"In view of these circumstances, the Bureau of the Council decided on November 25 to lift the suspension of the FKF with immediate effect.

"Upon the lifting of the suspension, a FIFA-CAF mission team will be deployed to Nairobi in order to define the next steps for FKF and to also meet with the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Sports.

"The lifting of the suspension of the FKF would take place without prejudice to the ongoing investigations and court proceedings at national level."

Sports Minister Amina Mohamed announced the expulsion of FKF Executive Committee led by President Nick Mwendwa last November.

Following the expulsion, a Caretaker Committee to manage Kenyan football affairs was appointed for an initial six-month period.

FKF general secretary Otieno and vice-president Doris Petra have been reinstated to their positions as per FIFA's demands.

Mwendwa remains suspended after he was charged with fraud charges, which he has denied.
