He confirmed in his closing comments that he would be giving over his duties to vice-president Jon Morgan early in 2023.

Hadfield was last elected to the BisFed Presidency in 2019.

"Sadly for me, this will be my last annual report to our members," said Hadfield. 

"I have had to inform the Board that due to an ongoing medical situation, I will be unable to commit the time necessary to carry out my responsibilities as your President over the next year. 

"We have therefore agreed that I will, in accordance with our Articles of Association, hand over my role to our vice-president, Jon Morgan in the first quarter of 2023. 

"I am confident that with the strong team we have, this will be a simple and smooth transition.

"It has been a privilege and a pleasure to be your President these last ten years. 

"I have met wonderful people, witnessed amazing sport and made so many friends around the world. 

"I have enjoyed every minute and I thank you all sincerely for your friendship."

In his letter, Hadfield also expressed his confidence in boccia being well-prepared for the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

A new strategic plan for 2023 to 2028 was mentioned too, focusing on growth, sustainability, excellence and good governance.

Hadfield was positive too about the budget on his announced departure, stating the organisation was "in a good financial position" and its annual audit "revealed no weaknesses in our controls".
