Swedish skiers won the men's and women's titles at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Ski Cross World Cup in Crosspark Reiteralm.

Among women, reigning Olympic champion Sandra Naeslund took the gold medal while compatriot and Youth Olympics bronze medallist David Mobärg took the top prize for men.

Naeslund gained her 36th World Cup victory and 16th win in a row, and was pushing from start to finish, giving none of her competitors a chance to keep up.

Marielle Thompson of Canada and Daniela Maier of Germany, the duo who completed the podium at Beijing 2022, took silver and bronze respectively.

The win was historic for Naeslund as she beat the previous mark for the most wins in a row set by fellow Swede Ingemar Stenmark.

Mobärg was up against Bastien Midol and Youri Duplessis of France and Kevin Drury of Canada after the heats.

The Swede started the fastest and managed to create a big gap like Naeslund.

While Drury had a chance to get ahead of Midol after turn three in the roller section, a slight touch between the skiers slowed the Canadian down.

The French duo completed the podium spots with Duplessis winning silver and Midol getting bronze.

For a moment, Duplessis closed the gap to Mobärg before the last big jump, but failed to go past him.

The victory was Mobärg’s second of the season.
