World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue has discussed the possibility of hosting the 2026 World Taekwondo Junior Championships in Senegal with the country's National Olympic Committee (NOC) President Mamadou Ndiaye.

Ndiaye, who is also an International Olympic Committee member, met with Choue earlier this month where the duo also spoke about the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

The Senegalese NOC is also keen on hosting the qualification tournament for the Youth Olympics the same year.

The duo then focused on refugee activities by the International Federation and the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation.

The trip also saw athletes from Senegal Taekwondo Federation do a demonstration for Choue and World Taekwondo secretary general Jeongkang Seo at the Monument de la Renaissance.

Senegal is set to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2026, the first time an Olympic event will be held in Africa.

Taekwondo is part of the programme for the 2026 Games, with the sport seeing an increase in quota from 100 to 120 after its success at the previous edition in Buenos Aires in 2018

Five weight categories for male and female athletes have been planned for Dakar 2026.

The 2026 Games will also see a mixed team event take place for the first time.

The Summer Youth Olympics are set to be held in Dakar from the end of October to the start of November in 2026.
