Qatar reached the quarter-finals of the 2023 Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Gold Cup after a 1-0 win over Mexico.

Honduras bowed out with a 2-1 victory over Haiti in the other Group B game while Group A action saw the United States and Jamaica register thumping wins against Trinidad and Tobago and Saint Kitts and Nevis, respectively.

A towering header from Hazem Shehata in the 27th minute did the job for the 2022 World Cup hosts at the Levi's Stadium.

While Mexico was dominating possession, Musaab Khidir whipped a cross in from the right flank that was met by Shehata.

El Tricolor were the better team offensively, producing a flurry of attacks throughout the game, but was unlucky to finish without a goal thanks to some great goalkeeping from Meshaal Barsham.

Despite the result, Mexico also progressed to the next round.

Frantzdy Pierrot scored in the 20th minute to give Haiti the lead against Honduras at the at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Pierrot was the quickest to react for the rebound as Edrick Menjivar saved a shot from Duckens Nazon for the opener.

However, Honduras rallied back thanks to a header from Jerry Bengtson, who headed a cross from Maylor Nunez to become Honduras’ oldest-ever Gold Cup scorer.

Jorge Alvarez split the defence with a lobbed pass soon after the break that led to the second goal.

His compatriot Jose Pinto calmly brought it down with a delicate first touch before slotting it past the keeper Alexandre Pierre.

Jesus Ferreira stared with another hat-trick as United States crushed Trinidad and Tobago 6-0.

It was a one-sided affair with Trinidad and Tobago barely threatening the American defenders.

It took only 14 minutes for Ferreira to find the back of the net and he got two more before the first half to become the first player to score hat-tricks in two different Gold Cup games in the same edition.

Cade Cowell, Gianluca Busio and Brandon Vazquez completed the rout in the second half.

Jamaica made it to the knockouts by finishing second in Group A after their 5-0 win over Saint Kitts and Nevis.

An own goal from Julani Archibald helped the Jamaicans to break the deadlock in the 30th minute.

Jonathan Russell doubled the lead right at the end of the first half before DiShon Bernard was at the end of a Shamar Nicholson cross four minutes after the break to make it 3-0.

Strikes from Daniel Johnson and Cory Burke extended the lead as Saint Kitts and Nevis continued to struggle.
