The grand opening took place at the Ausmart shop in Town Ground in Honiara.

Ausmart Company Limited were announced as the official merchandise provider of the Games in May.

"The journey and process of this launch was not easy, it was mark by countless hours of hard work and dedication and commitment for excellence in creating, designing and perfecting all our items," said Matilda Yee, on behalf of Ausmart.  

"We have our ups and down but this has made us go beyond our limits and unlock our potential, capabilities and overcoming our challenge's none of this would have been possible without the GOC team and our staff who have worked tiressly behind the scene."

The shop sells school and office supplies and Games souvenirs, including caps, t-shirts, mascots and bags with the Sol2023 branding.

Ausmart and GOC have claimed that the merchandise will also be available for purchase during the Games.

Organising Committee Board chairman Martin Rara was present during the official launch.

"This is very much a relationship built on trust we [GOC] have given to Ausmart the rights to do a lot of things and we are trusting them with our brand and they are trusting us that we are going to help them to make it into a profitable relationship as they are our business and they need to make a profit," said GOC chief executive Peter Stewart.

"The 2023 Pacific Games is a once in a generation opportunity. "We know that everybody will hopefully enjoy the Games but it will come and go very quickly, merchandise provides the opportunity for people to have lasting memories, to have something that enable them to be reminded about the good times that they experience while the Games on (sic) and to show support for the Games and for team Solomon in the lead up to the Games.

"Certainly, all our visitors and guest come November 19th for the Games (sic) they can take home with them and to keep for the long period of time."

The 2023 Pacific Games is scheduled to open on November 19 and conclude on December 2.

This will be the first time the Pacific Games is being held in the Solomon Islands.
