Three more Greco-Roman titles were won on the penultimate day of action at the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade in Serbia, while more Paris 2024 quota places were secured.

In the 60kg category, gold went to Zholaman Sharshenbekov of Kyrgyzstan, who earned an 11-6 win on points against Fumita Kenichiro of Japan.

Bronze medals went to China’s Liguo Cao, who overcame Armenian Gevorg Gharibyan on points 5-3, and Islomjon Bakhramov of Uzbekistan, who won on points after his contest with Mehdi Seifollah Mohsen Nejad of Iran had finished 3-3.

Cao and Bakhramov both earned Paris 2024 quota places for their respective countries alongside their bronze medals.

In the men’s 97kg category gold went to Gabriel Alejandro Rosillo Kinde Lan of Cuba, who won on points after his contest against Armenia’s Artur Aleksanyan had finished 3-3.

The bronze-medal contests were both won on points, with Artur Omarov of the Czech Republic overcoming Lithuania’s Mindaugas Venckaitis 3-1, and Iran’s Mohammadhadi Abdollah Saravi a 4-1 winner against neutral athlete Abubakar Khaslakhanau.

Omarov and Abdollah Saravi both secured Paris 2024 quota places through winning their bronze-medal bouts.

In the men’s 72 kilograms category, gold went to France’s Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamed Hassan Ghanem, who claimed a 3-0 victory by points, over Hungary’s Robert Attila Fritsch.

In the non OIympic weight category, bronze medals went to Selcuk Can of Turkey who won on points after his contest with Stoyan Kubatov of Bulgaria finished 1-1, and Ali Feizollah Arsalan of Serbia, who overcame Shingo Harada of Japan 9-0 by superiority.

The remaining three Greco-Roman categories are due to conclude tomorrow, at 63, 67 and 87kg.

Olympic quota places were secured by the finalists of both the 67kg and 87lkg categories on the penultimate day of action at the Štark Arena.

At 67kg, Luis Orta of Cuba and Hasrat Jafranov of Azerbaijan reached the final and earned Paris 2024 quota spots for their nations.

The same applied at 87kg where Ali Cengiz of Turkey and David Losonczi of Hungary reached the final, also earning Olympic quota places for their countries.
