The women's team representing the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (University of Monterrey, Mexico) secured the gold, while Lithuania's Vytautas Magnus University did the same in the men's category.


The main team from the University of Monterrey (Leon, Mexico) comfortably defeated their counterparts from The American University of Cairo (AUC) by 14-7 in the FISU 3x3 basketball final held in the evening in the Qatari capital.


In the other final, the men's team from Lithuania (Vytautas Magnus University) avenged last year's defeat and clinched their first gold medal in this type of competition. They outplayed the University of Sydney (Australia) by a significant margin, securing a 21-12 victory in a match without equal from the outset.


Earlier, in the battle for bronze, the representative team from Ukraine, Precarpathian University, defeated Pitesti (Romania) by 17-10 and finished third in the women's category.


The most thrilling match, due to its closely contested nature, featured Sumy State from Ukraine against Paulista University from Brazil. It was a closely fought game that ended level at 18 in regular time, with the Europeans eventually pulling ahead in extra time to secure a final score of 20-18.
