Hong Kong to host WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024. WBSC

The Baseball Association of Hong Kong in China will host the 12-team tournament, the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) has announced. The event will be held at the Central Harbourfront Event Space.

The second edition of the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup will be held in Hong Kong, China, from 7 to 12 October 2024. This open-air venue features a vast outdoor area of nearly 36,000 square metres, providing ample space for a variety of activities and events. Its strategic location ensures convenient access to public transport, making it easily accessible to visitors from different parts of the city. 

The Hong Kong Baseball Association plans to install two Baseball5 fields using the SES Battle III, a state-of-the-art elastic rubber surface designed for outdoor sports fields. It is known for its environmentally friendly properties and excellent shock absorption.

The II WBSC Baseball5 World Cup will be a 12-team tournament. The continents with the most berths are the Americas and Asia with three each, followed by Africa and Europe with two each, and Oceania with one wild card spot. Four countries are already classified for the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup, two from Africa, Tunisia, and South Africa, and two from Europe, Lithuania and France.


In the latest update of the Baseball5 World Rankings released by the WBSC on 16 November, Hong Kong is ranked 22nd, while China is in the 15th position.

Cuba emerged victorious in the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup, defeating Japan in the final. The tournament took place at the iconic El Zócalo in Mexico City at the end of 2022.
