The Venezuelan National SAMBO Championships were held in the state of Aragua from 21-24 March. More than 150 athletes from 15 states of the country participated in the tournament. Both men's and women's competitions were held, in both Sport and Combat SAMBO.

"We made every effort to hold the championship at a high organisational and sporting level. The spectators really had something to see, given the development of SAMBO in Venezuela and the high level of competitiveness of our athletes. Based on the results of the championship, the national team has been selected to represent the country in the upcoming international competitions - both continental and world," said the President of the Venezuelan SAMBO Federation, Cesar Arteaga.

Competitions were held for both men and women in both sport and combat SAMBO. According to FIASA tradition, the annual meeting of the national federation was held before the start of the qualifying championship, with the participation of representatives from different states of the country.

"The participants reviewed the results of 2023, which were impressive thanks to the hard work of the federation and the national team. The Venezuelan team won the Pan American Championship and three bronze medals at the World Beach Sambo Championships. They have also won medals at the World Combat Games: a gold medal in blind sambo, a bronze in combat sambo and third place in the team competition," stated Arteaga. He also said that Venezuela "has won the most international medals among the Pan American representatives in 2023".
