Peru to host the 2025 Global Esports Games. GEF

Lima, the capital of Peru, will host the 2025 Global Esports Games (GEG) and also annual stages of the Global Esports Federation (GEF)'s Pro-Series - the Global Esports Tour (GET) - from 2024 to 2028.

The historic moment was formalised in Lima by GEF CEO, Paul J. Foster and Asociación Deportiva Peruana de Esports (Peruvian Esports AssociationADPES) President, Diego Mohm, in the presence of Angélica Matsuda Matayoshi, Executive President of the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), and Jose Luis Farfan, President of Legado. 

The signing ceremony was also attended by Peruvian e-sports athletes and community members, including GEF Champions Circle alum Josselyn Abusabal, who recently represented GEF at the United Nations ECOSOC Youth Forum in New York, according to the 

"We are proud that the iconic city of Lima, Peru will host the first Global Esports Games in the Americas. The Global Esports Federation is committed to breaking new ground through innovative partnerships. This agreement showcases Peru as a destination for world-class esports events," said Mario Cilenti, GEF COO & President, Pan Am Esports Federation.

Diego Mohme, President of the ADPES, was also delighted. "Peru has proven to be a cultivator of talent in the Esports community and we are honoured to host these global events. The opportunity to host GEF's flagship event, the Global Esports Games 2025, in Lima, as well as the annual stages of the Global Esports Tour, will further strengthen our capacity as an Esports community," he said. 

To build on this momentum, GEF President Chris Chan has appointed GEF Vice President Dr Melita N. Moore (USA) to chair the GEG25 Coordinating Commission. GEF Executive Board member Yaqui Núñez del Risco Mejía (Dominican Republic) will serve as vice-chair of the Commission. 

Lima has also been confirmed to host annual stages of the GEF's Pro-Series - the Global Esports Tour (GET) - from 2024 to 2028. The first GET in Peru will take place in November and will see professional teams from around the world compete in a high-level Dota 2 tournament. This is an important milestone for the GEF, as it expands its footprint across the different continents of the world.
