Monserrat Hermida Garcia of Spain became the first Para gold medallist at the World Pole Sports Championships today in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

This year’s competition is the first in the history of the event organised by the International Pole Sport Federation to have a Para title on offer.

Garcia became its first champion with her score of 27.800 points at the Maaspoort Sport in the Dutch city.

She was followed by compatriot Erin Clark, who produced a score of 21.100.

Claiming the final place on the podium was Norway’s Therese Moen Heimdahl as she scored 10.700.

In the senior women’s preliminary round, the United States’ Rafaela Montanaro topped the pile with 56.700, putting her 3.000 in front of Hungarian performer Noemi Marosvolgyi.

Mexico’s Maria Eugenia Plaza Ortega earned the third highest score in the preliminary round with her total of 51.900.

Ortega’s work was not done there as she topped the senior doubles preliminaries alongside her partner Sergio Ivan Chan Banos.

Tomorrow will be the last day of competition.
