Øistein Lunde has been appointed as the acting secretary general of the Norwegian Ski Federation (NSF).

The 43-year-old will begin work in his new role indefinitely from November 1 until a permanent option is hired.

Lunde has worked within the organisation since 2007 in various roles including as an event consultant, special advisor, department manager and most recently as organisational manager since August 2019.

"We are very pleased that Øistein accepted the role of acting secretary general," said NSF President Tove Moe Dyrhaug.

"Øistein knows the Norwegian Ski Federation well for many years and is knowledgeable and experienced."

Lunde is educated as an economist and has been chosen due to his claimed broad experience and thorough knowledge of all levels of the Federation and the disciplines it incorporates.

He has been involved in ski sports for most of his life as a coach, organiser and technical director as well as club-level positions before joining the NSF.

"I thank you for the trust from the ski board and look forward to new tasks for a period of time," said Lunde.

Lunde comes in to cover for the outgoing Ingvild Bretten Berg who resigned after 17 years with the governing body, with the last four as secretary general.

The NSF is the governing body for Alpine, cross-country, jumping, Nordic, telemark, freestyle and randonee skiing.

It was formed in 1908 and also covers snowboarding.
