Hosts Japan earned places in three finals after day one of the Karate 1-Premier League leg in Fukuoka.

The home side was in fine form as the martial art returned to the sport's birth country following its sole Olympic appearance at Tokyo 2020.

Women's kata grand winner Hikaru Ono was one of the Japanese stars as she prevailed over two-time world champion and team-mate Kiyou Shimizu in the semi-finals.

Ono will meet Mo Sheung Grace Lau of Hong Kong for gold after she beat Japan’s Mirisa Ohuchi.

In the women's under-55 kilograms kumite, Shiori Nakamura of Japan got the better of Germany's Gizem Bugur in the last four to book a final with Ukraine's grand winner Anzhelika Terliuga.

Terliuga proved too strong for Ku Tsui-ping of Chinese Taipei as she chases a second Premier League title of the season.

Hiromu Hashimoto completed the trio of Japanese finalists as he made the men's under-60kg showpiece by defeating Florian Haas of Germany.

Morales will now meet Reem Ahmed Salama for gold and the Egyptian will be looking for her second Premier League title of the season after she saw off Tsang Yee-ting of Hong Kong.

There will be an all-Jordan affair in the men's under-67kg final after Abdel Rahman Almasatfa beat Kazakhstan's Didar Amirali and Afeef Ghaith upset grand winner Dionysios Xenos of Greece.

In the men's under-75kg Turkey's Omer Faruk Yaruk booked his final spot by overcoming Quentin Mahauden of Belgium.

He will meet Italy's Lorenzo Pietromarchi who saw off Andrii Zaplitnyi of Ukraine.
