"I want to thank WKF vice-president Mr Bechir Cherif for taking the time to travel to Heraklion to make sure that the karate event of the Mediterranean Beach Games will be a huge success," said WKF President Antonio Espinós.

"I am sure that karate fans in the Mediterranean region and all over the world will have the opportunity to enjoy the excitement of karate kata on the beach and to witness how karate, once again, gives a great added value to a multi-sport event."

During his time in Heraklion, Cherif also met with Greek Sports Minister Eleftherious Avgenakis who closed the inspection visit.

More than 50 athletes from 13 countries are registered to participate in the karate competition of the Games.
