The UAE's Armed Forces National Team (AFNT) were crowned overall winners in the professional category at the 2023 AJP Tour Asia Continental Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

The tournament was organised at the Shabab Al-Ahli Club in Dubai by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) and Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP).

Commando Group finished second while Kazakhstan claimed the final spot on the podium.

AFNT claimed 1,400 AJP ranking points by clinching the over all title.

"The high participation rates were driven by the tournament’s quality and high technical standards, as well as the desire of clubs and academies to ensure their players are fully prepared for upcoming key events like the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship," Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice-President of UAEJJF, said after the tournament, as quoted by Gulf Today.

For AFNT, the men claimed two purple belt titles, one brown belt and four black belt gold medals.


The women added to the triumph with one purple belt and one brown belt gold.

"We are just a few weeks away from the kick-off of the 15th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, as well as the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Awards," Rodrigo Valerio, operations director at AJP, said.

"The significant presence of professionals in the AJP Asia Championship, coming from abroad, indicates that they have entered a crucial phase of preparations for the upcoming competitions.

"Most of them have chosen to stay in Abu Dhabi and engage in preparatory camps for the most important event in November, benefiting from the exceptional training opportunities provided by the Jiu-Jitsu capital."

The next major assignment for the will be the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

It is scheduled to take place at the Mubadala Arena from November 1 to 11.
