About Birmingham 2022

The eyes of the world will be on Birmingham when the English city hosts the 2022 Commonwealth Games between July 28 and August 8.

Elite sportsmen and women from the 72 nations and territories of the Commonwealth will gather together to compete in 19 sports and eight Para sports, at world-class venues across Birmingham, the West Midlands and beyond.

Around 4,500 athletes are expected for what will be a festival of sport and culture, that promises to put the region on the map as never before while leaving a lasting legacy for the area.

Birmingham 2022 will be the 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games, and the third to be held in England.

The city was announced as the host by the Commonwealth Games Federation in December 2017.
