Swiss Paralympic has announced that it has extended its partnership with Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) until 2020.

The deal makes SWISS the official airline of the National Paralympic Committee, supporting its athletes by providing a package of different flight, ticketing and baggage services.

The enhanced partnership will "simplify" transport organisation to the Paralympic Games, as well as World and European Championships.

"We are very pleased to be able to accompany Swiss Paralympic athletes even more closely on their way to international competition," Bernhard Christen, head of marketing at SWISS, said.

"Sport creates emotions and connects people and as an airline of Switzerland, it is important for us to support both."

The two organisations signed a partnership back in November 2015, which saw SWISS support the team with air travel to Rio 2016.

SWISS also penned a deal with the country's Olympic team.

"As we want to achieve a lot at upcoming championships, the enhanced cooperation fits in perfectly," Rene Will, President of Swiss Paralympic, said.

It is the second travel-based partnership Swiss Paralympic has re-signed in recent months.

Travel agent Globetrotter, who has been aligned with the governing body since 2011, reaffirmed its partnership in December.

Both parties will cooperate in the fields of travel and logistics.

Switzerland won five medals at Rio 2016, including two golds, two silvers and one bronze.

Four of those medals were won by men's T54 wheelchair racer Marcel Hug, who claimed gold in the 800 metres and marathon and silver in the 1500m and 5,000m.

Cyclist Tobias Fankhauser took the bronze medal in the men's H2 road race event.
