The North Carolina Bid Committee for the 2027 International University Sport Federation (FISU) Summer World University Games has surpassed its goal of acquiring 50 companies or organisations as sponsors by increasing its total to 52 following the backing of four new firms.

However, North Carolina 2027 is still three-fifths away from its sponsorship goal of $500,000 (£440,000/€‎500,000) in donations.

Truist Bank, CBRE, Guilford Merchants Association (GMA), and Laser Image Printing Marketing are the latest to support North Carolina's push to host the Games.

Additional sponsors are said to be in the works.

Truist Bank is the sixth largest United States-based bank, which aims to deliver financial services to its clients, while CBRE is a worldwide real estate giant.

GMA is a business membership organisation who support members with educational programming as well as leading activities and marketing to grow tin Greensboro in Guildford County and across the Piedmont Triad, a region covering Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point.

As a specialist printing company, Laser Image Printing Marketing was responsible for creating the physical copy of the North Carolina 2027 World University Games Bid Book, which Governor Roy Cooper handed to FISU Acting President Leonz Eder and the Evaluation Committee.

Reaching 50 sponsors was one of two primary sponsorship objectives with the Bid Committee also hoping to gain $500,000.

Koury Corporation, McDonald York Building Company, and York Properties, who have all made commitments to making greater investments, are helping in this process.

The current donation total stands at $200,000 (£170,000/€200,000).

North Carolina is facing Chungcheong to stage the 2027 FISU World Summer University Games.

The host is to be selected at a FISU Executive Committee meeting in Brussels on November 12.

Eder previously said to insidethegames that it would not award both the 2027 and 2029 Games at the same time in November to the two 2027 bidders.
